So to say that I love chocolate Orpingtons is an understatement. I first heard of them about four years ago and was instantly in love and wanted some, but there were none to be had in the United States at that time.

These photos are from Greenfire Farms. One of (if not THE) first importer of true British chocolate Orpingtons.
AND the farm from which I have hatching eggs arriving today!!!!!! So in 22-23 days we will have little chocolate Orpington babies here on our little homestead! I am so excited!

The Chicken Chick
We have orpingtons but not this color. I do like the breed since they seem to be very gentle and great egg producers. Beautiful bird!
ReplyDeleteFrom one of your new followers Ooooo..pretty chicken. not sure we evwr had orpingtons but raised lots of chicken growing up.
ReplyDeleteThat is very exciting! I have buff orpingtons, but I've never seen the chocolate ones. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteVisiting from Farmgirl Friday :)
Chocolates are very rare here in the US. They are a British breed and just a couple of people have imported some and gotten them started in the US. I am so excited, I can hardly wait til hatch day!
DeleteGorgeous birds! Best of luck with your hatch. Found you via the clever chicks blog hop.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Glad you stopped by and come back anytime :-)
DeleteExciting! Please post pictures for us to see! I would love to have lavender orpingtons some day.
ReplyDeleteLavenders are so pretty, too!
DeleteBeautiful birds! Good luck with the hatching - keep us updated! Stopping by from Tilly's Nest
ReplyDeleteOh believe me, I will update here as soon as I candle on day 10 and then when they hatch.
DeleteThat is awesome! We've had Buff Orpingtons for years. I didn't know there were chocolate ones. Must look into getting some of these. I hope your beautiful little chickies do well! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteTo purchase these as live birds, it is quite spendy. Heck, I paid a small fortune for the eggs, but I have wanted some so long, I just took the plunge.
DeleteThat's neat, I hadn't heard of Chocolate Orps before!
