Fun project!

Well last night a photo of a pony tail beanie hat seemed to go viral on Facebook.

Cute, cute, cute!!!

I've got a great pattern and am making them to sell!!

The first one (in photos) is a larger sized one than normal. I don't have the correct size crochet hook handy right now but wanted to make one anyway .

Sorry about the not so great photos. Just took them quickly so I could show everyone :-)

Could It Be?

Original post from my other (now deleted) blog, posted Feb. 6, 2014

In the past few years, I have noticed so many things about my "likes" have changed.

For my entire life, green was my favorite color…honestly, for as long as I can remember. Then, in my teens, I decided I liked red just as much as green, so I had two favorite colors. I mean really…I was always drawn to red and/or green…everything….flowers, fabric, yarn, clothes, home decor…everything!

Then, just about exactly two years ago, I discovered really like PINK!!! Now, don't get me wrong, I never really *disliked* pink. I liked "HOT" Pink quite a lot, but just liked it, wasn't necessarily drawn to it like my favorite colors of red and green. So in the past two years, I think of nothing but PINK!!! All shades of PINK!!! What in the world????  It's like red and green just dropped off of the color chart in my mind. Odd.

Just like with my favorite colors….I have always been a yellow gold gal. DESPISED silver tone metals; rings, earrings, necklaces. THEN later in the same year, maybe six months later, that I discovered that my sun rises and sets in the color pink, I found that yellow gold is drab and dingy looking to me. I now LOVE the white metals!!!

Ready for a third?

As many know, I am an avid quilter and love to sew. While I do adore flowers, I never cared for floral fabrics. Well, what do you know….in the past 9-12 months…guess what I just can't get enough of??? FLORAL fabrics!!!!

So, all of these crazy things occurred all at once.

Maybe a mid-life crisis??? hahaha

Hummmm….pretty crazy if you ask me.

Making a rag rug

How I spent my Sunday afternoon...doing some of my favorite things; reading magazines and creating!

I have such a HUGE fabric stash, I decided to try my hand at turning some of my fabric into some rag rugs for our house.

I have found several methods to make them, but since I crochet, I decided to try that method first.

Using a "P" crochet hook for this project. The only stitches involved with this are chain and single crochet. I am not a great teacher, but here is my quick tutorial for you.

I pulled some random fabrics from my stash. No rhyme or reason, just pulled some that I though there was enough of to make enough strips to make it around the rug a couple to a few times.

I cut my strips at about 1.5 inches in width. I just used two fingers as a guide for the first few snips, then "eyeballed" the rest.

I tore complete yardage pieces into a pile of strips so they would all be ready to use.

This video was quite helpful. I also enjoyed her introduction.

I did not make mine the exact 27 chain stitches as in the video above, I don't remember how many I did, but it doesn't really matter. The size is all up to you.

The corners are not as complicated or tricky as I anticipated without having an exact pattern to follow. I found that if I needed to "stretch" to get to the next strip, it was time to do 2 single croc
het stitches to increase.

These are two rugs I made from vintage bed sheets.

In the age of electronics

Books vs. e-readers.

In my life, I am very guilty of collecting or acquiring things. Books are no different than the fabric, yarn and craft supplies I keep.

Until last summer, I honestly don't know how many books I owned. Boxes and boxes, for sure. I had a living estate sale and sold or donated many of my books, I kept my absolute favorites and the others, if I thought I would one day read it, or if a craft book use it, I put them on my wish list for Kindle, or bought them if free.

I had to make a decision to reduce stuff, and unfortunately books are stuff, and take up space.

I can get just as much enjoyment reading on my Kindle as holding a "real life" book, and it helps me by reducing the amount of *stuff* I have around. me.

Kindle Paperwhite

I love my Kindle and the number of free books that Amazon offers sometimes is just crazy! I love sharing the free e-books here when I come across them, so be sure to take a look often!

Happy Monday and welcome back to my blog!
