Could It Be?

Original post from my other (now deleted) blog, posted Feb. 6, 2014

In the past few years, I have noticed so many things about my "likes" have changed.

For my entire life, green was my favorite color…honestly, for as long as I can remember. Then, in my teens, I decided I liked red just as much as green, so I had two favorite colors. I mean really…I was always drawn to red and/or green…everything….flowers, fabric, yarn, clothes, home decor…everything!

Then, just about exactly two years ago, I discovered really like PINK!!! Now, don't get me wrong, I never really *disliked* pink. I liked "HOT" Pink quite a lot, but just liked it, wasn't necessarily drawn to it like my favorite colors of red and green. So in the past two years, I think of nothing but PINK!!! All shades of PINK!!! What in the world????  It's like red and green just dropped off of the color chart in my mind. Odd.

Just like with my favorite colors….I have always been a yellow gold gal. DESPISED silver tone metals; rings, earrings, necklaces. THEN later in the same year, maybe six months later, that I discovered that my sun rises and sets in the color pink, I found that yellow gold is drab and dingy looking to me. I now LOVE the white metals!!!

Ready for a third?

As many know, I am an avid quilter and love to sew. While I do adore flowers, I never cared for floral fabrics. Well, what do you know….in the past 9-12 months…guess what I just can't get enough of??? FLORAL fabrics!!!!

So, all of these crazy things occurred all at once.

Maybe a mid-life crisis??? hahaha

Hummmm….pretty crazy if you ask me.

Identy Crisis

In case no one noticed, I seem to be having a major identity crisis.

I really like the original name of this blog, Heritage Homemaker.  Just Being Me..... It's just tooooo long for a name, I think.

Now we have named our little homestead Eason Acres, and I want to use it for a name, too.

I eventually want to use our homestead name domain, easonacres(dot) com, but I also don't want to lose followers.

I would love to move to Wordpress, but again, don't want to lose readers....but at the same time I love Blogger, just wish it had a few more options.

I am going to stay put with the name I love for my blog, Heritage Homemaker, and stay put here on Blogger. Sometimes, my posts may seem out of the realm for "heritage" or "homemaker" or for "Eason acres".....just gonna have to be that way.

So, I am going to do something today I enjoy. Re-designing my blog :-)

Blog Commenting ... Soap Box!

I just don't understand why bloggers set up their comments so it takes "an act of Congress" for people to leave a comment on their post.

Source

Just this morning, I left two blogs without commenting because of 1) having to log-in through Wordpress. I don't have a Wordpress account and I don't want one. The option was to log-in through Facebook or Twitter. Nope. I want to leave a comment with my blog url, name and email addy. So, you won't get a comment from me. Thank.you.very.much.  2)Security words/numbers. I am so sorry to those of you that use this method. I just have an awful time reading those scrambled up letters most times and hate having to "get new words" over and over again in order to be able to type in the right ones. I do follow through with the security words most of the time, but if I can't get them correct after a couple of tries, I move on.

Others have it set where you have to log-in with your Blogger/Google log-in. This is not as big of an issue, but what if a person wants to comment and isn't on Blogger or Google(or the other options under "Open ID")? Yep, ya lost another comment and possible return reader.

My friend, Michelle Shaeffer, wrote a wonderful post about commenting on blogs.

Top Ten Reasons I Haven't Commented on Your Blog (yet)

Look at her number 10 reason. There's my point for this post.

Here's another post Michelle wrote, even better!

Free Your Comments!

I have known Michelle for 10 years. She knows her blogging stuff. Yes, Michelle focuses on Wordpress based blogging, but Blogger is so user friendly, everything she advises can be appllied to Blogger.

Here is a screen print showing how you can "Free Your Comments" on Blogger. I have mine set "wide open" with moderation set for comments left on posts over 14 days old.  I have no major issues with *trash* comments getting through. If one does, I simply delete it marking it as spam.

Take Michelle's advise. Free Your Comments!

I look forward to sharing so many things with all of you readers!

Missing you all

With my huge blanket post of the happenings in May, I thought for sure, I was back to blogging on a regular basis.

Then...

*We bought a new house, which was a major nightmare
*I broke my finger, had to have surgery on it, it was immobilized for 4 weeks, and is still in a full time splint
*We moved into the new house, me with my injured hand
*David came home on R&R

So my full time return to blogging didn't happen and summer is nearly gone.

I cannot wait to get back to blogging and visiting with all of my blog-y friends. I miss visiting all of your blogs with such great ideas, recipes and stories of what is going on in your worlds.

Now I sit here at the airport in Albuquerque, NM, waiting to board our flight to Las Vegas. The kids are with their father, it is just David and I flying.

We are going to Vegas for our wedding and honeymoon. We are so happy and excited! Our wedding will be on Friday night, at 7:30pm Pacific time.  Here is the link for any that care to view it. It will be live and then remain available for 16 hours.

David and Amy's Wedding

See you in September! I can't wait! I will have photos of the wedding and of the new house!

I'm staying here

You know, once I came up with the name for this blog, I was ecstatic! I just love the name!

Once the divorce issues began, I felt like I was leaving behind my "farm wife" dream and lifestyle, so I needed a different name for my blog. I even started a new one, with a different name. While the name of it has sentimental meaning (I will explain in another post), I just didn't want to dump Heritage Homemaker.

I love everything old, antiques, history and the like. Because, to me, everything old has a story to tell. And...technically I will always be a homemaker. Even if I have a part time job or have a WAHM(work at home mom) business out of my home...my primary focus will always be my family.

So, here I am and I will continue on here at Heritage Homemaker.

Be sure to share my blog with your friends! The more, the merrier!

It's a...

...new name for my blog! Also, a work in progress for a week or so.

This will be the last change of names. When I changed over to blogger and created Our Own Village, I liked the name, or so I thought. The name just never *felt* or sounded right to me. But this one, Heritage Homemaker, I LOVE! It's perfect and I don't know why I never thought of it before now. Everything in the right time, eh?

I had planned on having my original blog, Crazy for the Country, printed and then taking that site completely down. I haven't gotten it printed yet, so I've decided to copy all of the posts (yes, copy and paste, one by one) from both Crazy for the Country and Our Own Village over here. That way, everything back to May 2008 will be here and together. It will take a bit of time, but will be worth it in the end.

The post dates may look a little weird while I am moving old ones over, but once they are done, it will all be great!

Welcome and be sure to follow me here. I promise no more changes :-)
